Mr. Carlos Eduardo de Azevedo “Cadu”, originally from Brasília, Brazil, has a bachelor’s degree Social Communications - Advertisement, from the Universidade de Brasília (UnB, Brazil). He holds two Master’s Degrees. The first in Information Science from the Universidade de Brasília (UnB, Brazil) and the second in Inter American Defense and Security from the Inter American Defense College (IADC, Washington). He also has a MBA Degree in Marketing from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV, Brazil) and Certificates in the “Policy and Strategy Superior Course” (CSUPE) and in the “Advanced South-American Defense Course” (CAD-Sul) both from the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG, Brazil); and in the “Advanced Civil-Political-Military Relations and Democratic Leadership Course” (ACPMR) from the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies (CHDS-NDU/Washington).
Mr. “Cadu” Azevedo is a National Voluntary Contribution staff from Brazil and is serving in the Inter-American Defense College as a Professor to the Class 56 (2016-17) in the Country Studies courses after receiving his Master in Class 55. He has worked as a Professor in Marketing, Market Research and Planning and Consumer Behavior in several colleges and Universities in Brazil, such as Universidade Católica de Brasília, Universidade de Brasília, Centro Universitário de Brasília - UniCEUB, Instituto de Educação Superior de Brasília – IESB and UPIS – Faculdades Integradas.
Before coming to the IADC, his last assignment at the Brazil’s Ministry of Defense was in the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG, Brasília’s Office) coordinating the External Activities and Advising to the Director of the Office on Budget issues, Legislation, Proposals for New Courses and the construction of campus Brasilia of that Institution. He also was the Coordinator of the “Integrated Security Planning for Large Events Superior Course” (CPISGE), this course aimed to develop the capacities to integrate the security planning in the big events that are happening in Brazil (the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games) and its students were Colonels from the Distrito Federal Military Police, and other professionals from the Civil Police, Military Firefighters and Transit Security Agents of similar rank.
Mr. “Cadu” Azevedo is a civil public servant in Public Management and Public Policy Specialist career since 2009. He has more than 10 years as civil public servant with experience in Project Management, procurement and implementation of Public Policies and 8 years of experience as a Professor. In Brazil’s Ministry of Defense, he has worked in actions aimed at creating the Career of National Defense Analyst (Civilian); in actions aimed at implementing the National Defence Strategy and Brazil’s White Paper on Defense; and in the development of actions and projects in the institutional modernization area of that Ministry.
He has received Merit Medals from the Brazil’s Army, Air Force, Escola Superior de Guerra and the Ministry of Defense.
